Hanan Aldarmaki is an assistant professor of natural language processing at Mohammad bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). Her research covers topics in Arabic NLP and speech processing, including Automatic Speech Processing (ASR), text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis, and semantic representations. She also looks into speech and language disorders, and sign language processing, and applications of AI for accessibility more generally. Aldarmaki earned a Ph.D. in computer science from George Washington University in the United States in 2019, a Master of Philosophy in computer speech, text and internet technology from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom in 2009, and a B.S. in computer engineering from the American University of Sharjah in 2008.
